On location or in a studio.

A portrait is found between two people. My job is to put together the conditions that make it possible: the right light, the right frame, and the time it takes for someone to stop posing.

A likeness that rings true,
without changing or idealising.
A profile picture taken on a phone in a corridor says something about a company, whether it means to or not. A coherent set says something else: that the faces representing it matter.
A portrait is collaborative work, technical and artistic and human at once. Many people say they are uncomfortable in front of a lens: it is almost always a question of conditions, not of being photogenic. A few minutes, a bit of conversation, and the expression loosens.
On location

The approach does not change, the organisation does. For a director or a few people, the session simply fits into the day. For a whole team, we plan slots: 7 to 10 min per person, an immediate selection, and two or three retouched portraits for each.
Always included
These are the details you never see in the image, and they are what separates an ID photograph from a portrait.
The process
01
Preparation
Together we settle the number of people, the location, the look you want and how the images will be used. Depending on the case, we plan a neutral backdrop or an existing setting.
02
Setting up
I set the lighting and, if needed, the backdrop, before anyone arrives. When a make-up artist joins the session, each person goes through a light preparation to take away any shine.
03
The session
The time it takes to find the right expression, across several frames. The images can be looked at as we go and chosen on the spot.
04
Retouching and delivery
I sort, process and retouch the selected images, in colour and in black and white. Delivered through a private online gallery, available for five years.

FAQ
Where does the session take place?
In your own premises, most of the time. If you want a neutral backdrop, I set up a mobile studio there, provided there is enough space and the daylight can be blocked out. Otherwise the session takes place in a studio hired for the day. Based in Paris, I travel throughout France, Switzerland and Europe.
What formats do you deliver?
Two or three retouched portraits per person, in colour and in black and white, in the formats suited to LinkedIn, your website and your internal materials. Delivered through an online gallery, in high resolution.
Who chooses the photographs?
Each person chooses their own, live during the session. It is the moment that reassures people most, and it avoids going back and forth afterwards.
Do we need a make-up artist?
It is not essential, but under studio light a little preparation to take away shine changes the result a great deal, especially across a long series. It can be arranged as an option.
What equipment do you use?
A backdrop, three- or four-point lighting, full-frame bodies and lenses made for portraiture. A proper studio set-up, portable, built in your own space. See my equipment in detail.
How many people in a day?
Around thirty over a full day, set-up included. The real pace depends mostly on how the slots are organised, which we plan together beforehand.
What about the people who are away?
There are always some, and that is what leaves a team page incomplete for months. A short second date can be arranged as an option to catch up with anyone missing.
How many people, in which premises, and for what use: those three answers are enough for me to come back with a clear, precise proposal.
